| Beschrijving keerzijde | Complex mythological and civic composition centred on a biga standing left, within which Artemis Persica, the principal deity of Hierocaesarea, stands facing right. To the right, a turreted Tyche stands left, holding a long sceptre and clasping hands with Artemis in a gesture of civic dexiosis. To the left, the nude figure of Perseus leads the horses of the biga to the right, his head turned left, and appears to hold a harpe. The scene reflects the unique religious traditions of Hierocaesarea, where the cult of Artemis Persica was paramount. The magistrate's name and civic ethnic appear in the field and exergue in Greek characters. |
