To the right of the composition, Eurystheus cowers within a large pithos (storage jar) sunk into the ground, recoiling in fear from the beast. The scene is rendered in the dynamic narrative style typical of high-quality Pergamene civic bronze coinage. The reverse field carries a multi-line Greek legend identifying the strategos and the neocorate status of Pergamum. |
