Æ39 - Commodus ΕΠΙ ΕΡ ΜΗΔΟΦΙΛΟΥ ΑΡΧ οΤΡοΗΝΩΝ

Otrus was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage under the Antonines is poorly documented and survives in genuinely small numbers. This issue dates to the joint reign of Marcus Aurelius and Commodus, before Commodus became sole emperor in 180 — the magistrate name Μηδόφιλος appears across a handful of RPC IV.2 types from Otrus, suggesting a concentrated burst of civic minting under a single administration rather than sustained output.

The SNG von Aulock specimen remains one of the few reference anchors for this type.
