Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of the emperor Valerian facing right, portrayed three-quarter from the rear in the characteristic provincial style of the mid-third century AD. The radiate crown with its pronounced spikes is rendered with careful detail, while the cuirass displays incised decorative elements across the chest and shoulder. The encircling Greek legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The portrait exhibits the heavy, somewhat stylized modeling typical of Lydian civic bronze coinage of the Valerianic period.

Reverse description Heracles seated to the left upon a rock or throne, his muscular figure rendered in the robust Hellenistic tradition favored by Lydian civic mints. In his extended right hand he holds a patera offered forward, while his left hand rests upon his characteristic knotted club, which stands upright beside him. The Nemean lion skin may be draped across the seat beneath him. The two-line Greek legend surrounding the field names the local grammateus Marcus Aurelius Hieron and identifies the issuing city of the Trallians.
