The goddess is depicted holding what appears to be a mirror before her, an attribute closely associated with her iconography in provincial coinage of Pontus. The figural type is executed in the typical provincial relief style, with drapery folds suggested in the lower portion of the composition. The surrounding Greek legend naming the free city of Amisus and the regnal year ϹΝΓ (253 of the Pontic era, corresponding to 221–222 CE) runs around the periphery, partially lost to the flan irregularity. Surface patination is a consistent dark olive-brown with areas of reddish bronze visible. |
