Reverse description Septimius Severus, clad in full military dress, stands facing with head turned to the left, his right hand resting upon a trophy erected over two seated captives below, while his left hand holds a spear. To his side, the nude figure of Heracles advances to crown the emperor, with the Nemean lion skin and club held in Heracles' left hand. The composition is a remarkable example of imperial flattery in provincial bronze coinage, associating the emperor's military victories with the heroic and divine virtue of Heracles. The reverse field bears the civic legend identifying the local magistrate and city, with the regnal year noted as year 6.
