| Obverse description | Draped and diademed bust of the Roman Senate personified, facing right, rendered in the idealized tradition of provincial civic coinage. The effigy bears a diadem across the brow with hair arranged in loose curls, and the drapery falls over the left shoulder in typical senatorial fashion. The encircling Greek legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ runs along the periphery, identifying the personification as the Sacred Senate. The portrait exhibits the bold, slightly schematic modeling characteristic of Lydian provincial bronze coinage of the Severan and immediately post-Severan era. |
