Obverse description Laureate, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, portrayed from the rear in the so-called 'heroic' provincial style typical of Ephesian civic coinage. The emperor's features are rendered with careful detail, the laurel wreath clearly articulated across the brow. The Greek legend surrounds the effigy along the outer border of the flan.
