Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Marcus Aurelius facing right, with a bearded effigy rendered in the mature imperial portrait style. The legend ΑΥ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ runs around the periphery of the field, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. A beaded border frames the entire design. The portrait displays fine engraving characteristic of Phrygian provincial issues, with the laurel wreath clearly articulated above the brow.
