She is draped in a long chiton and wears a turreted crown (kalathos) upon her head, identifying her as the civic Tyche of Temenothyrae. In her extended right hand she holds a ship's rudder resting on a small globe, symbolizing divine guidance of the city's fate, while her left arm cradles a cornucopia overflowing with fruits and foliage, emblematic of abundance. The encircling Greek legend, distributed around the field, records the name and title of the presiding magistrate and the name of the issuing community. |
