In her extended right hand she holds a bundle of ears of grain (wheat), while her left hand rests upon a long transverse sceptre. The peripheral legend, distributed around the upper and lower field, names the local magistrate responsible for the coinage issue. The composition reflects the agricultural importance of the Adramyteum region and the city's veneration of Demeter as a civic deity. |
