| Beschrijving keerzijde | Demeter standing right, clad in long chiton and himation, holding three ears of corn in her right hand and a tall torch in her left. Before her stands the cult idol of Kore (Persephone) facing, flanked by an ear of corn and a poppy head on either side, alluding to the Eleusinian mysteries celebrated at Sardis. The composition reflects the city's close religious association with the Demeter-Kore cult. The reverse legend, arranged in the field and exergue, records the name and title of the presiding magistrate along with the city's double neocorate status. |
