| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, viewed from the front (centre perspective), the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The imperial portrait is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Lydian civic coinage of the late 2nd century AD. The obverse legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor with his abbreviated imperial titulature. |
