The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial Greek idiom, with bold high-relief modelling characteristic of the Smyrna conventus workshops of the mid-third century AD. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust within the coin's field, naming the emperor by his full Latin titulature transliterated into Greek characters. |
