| Descrizione del rovescio | Two deities stand facing one another in a confronted arrangement within the coin's field: Isis at left, depicted frontally, holds a sistrum raised in her right hand and a situla in her left, her figure rendered in the syncretic Greco-Egyptian style prevalent in Asia Minor during the Severan period. Sarapis stands to the right, also facing, raising his right hand in a gesture of benediction while his left hand holds a long sceptre; he is typically portrayed with the kalathos headdress. The lengthy Greek inscription encircles the scene, identifying the civic magistrate responsible for the issue and the neocorate status of Magnesia ad Maeandrum in relation to Artemis. |
