| Reverse description | Front elevation of a tetrastyle temple with four columns, within whose cella stands the cult statue of Hera of Samos in facing position. The goddess wears a kalathos (cylindrical crown) entwined by a serpent and holds a patera in each outstretched hand, with decorative fillets hanging from her figure. The architectural rendering reflects the famous Heraion of Samos, one of the great sanctuaries of the ancient Greek world. The reverse legend in Greek appears in the field identifying the issuing civic authority of the Samians. |
