Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip I facing right, portrayed from the rear in the three-quarter perspective typical of mid-third-century provincial issues. The emperor's paludamentum is visible over the left shoulder, and the cuirass is rendered with fine detail. A circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading Α Κ ΜΑΡ ΙΟΥ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The portrait displays the characteristic broad-faced, bearded physiognomy associated with Philip I on Asiatic provincial coinage.
