| Beschrijving keerzijde | Dionysus, nude, stands facing left, extending a cantharus in his right hand and clasping a long thyrsus in his left; to the left, a Satyr raises a small child upward toward the proffered cantharus in a gesture of Bacchic initiation; to the right, a panther crouches at the god's feet, completing the Dionysiac thiasos. The composition, a hallmark of the civic pride of Hadriani ad Olympum, is framed by the magistrate's legend in Greek around the field. The rendering reflects the strong local artistic tradition of Mysian bronze coinage under the Conventus of Adramyteum. |
