Maximinus Thrax never visited the eastern provinces — his entire reign was consumed by campaigns on the Rhine and Danube frontiers, and his administration of cities like Dorylaeum was conducted entirely through local magistrates. The archon Paulos named in this issue was one such figure, responsible for organizing the imperial cult and financing civic coinage at his own expense, a practice that turned the coin series of Phrygia into an unusually detailed record of local aristocratic families.
Dorylaeum's output under Maximinus is notably scarce. His reign ended with his assassination outside Aquileia in 238, one of three emperors to die that year.
