| Reverse description | Full-length figure of Zeus Lydios standing facing left, robed in himation, his right hand extending forward to hold an eagle and his left hand grasping a tall sceptre. The deity stands upon a low base or exergual line, occupying the full height of the field. The encircling Greek legend, divided around the type, names the strategus Menelaos and the civic ethnic of Thyateira, attributing civic authority to the issue. The design is framed by a beaded border and is typical of the high-quality civic bronze coinage of Lydian Thyateira during the Antonine period. |
