The scene symbolizes the homonoia (concord) between the cities of Perinthus and Laodicea ad Lycum. The Greek legend in the field and exergue reads ΠΕΡΙΝΘΙΩΝ ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ ΟΜΟΝΟΙΑ, explicitly naming the alliance. The composition is typical of civic homonoia coinage struck during the joint reign of the two emperors. |
