| Obverse description | Laureate head of Marcus Aurelius facing right, with traces of drapery visible at the truncation of the neck, rendered in the bearded portrait style characteristic of his later reign. The effigy displays a finely modelled beard and tightly curled laureate wreath. The circumferential Greek legend runs around the periphery of the field, bordered by a dotted beaded rim. The abbreviated imperial titulature is rendered in Greek characters, with the ligature ΚΜΝ noted in the legend. |
