| Beschrijving keerzijde | Homonoia type featuring two deities standing facing one another: Apollo, head turned right, shown in a relaxed contrapposto stance and holding a lyre, representing the civic cult of Hierapolis; and Artemis Ephesia, the multi-breasted fertility goddess of Ephesus, depicted frontally in her characteristic rigid, columnar form with supports at her sides and stags flanking her. The composition celebrates the formal alliance and concord between the cities of Hierapolis and Ephesus, both holders of the neocorate title. The reverse legend is distributed in the field and around the periphery. |
