| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view typical of late Severan provincial coinage. The laureate wreath, paludamentum, and segmented cuirass are rendered with provincial workmanship. The encircling Greek legend reads in the field around the imperial effigy. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, consistent with the large-module civic bronze coinage of Ephesus. |
