| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two turreted Tychai, personifications of the cities of Hierapolis and Sardis, standing facing one another in a homonoia composition. Each goddess wears a mural crown and is depicted in full-length drapery, extending her right hand to clasp that of her counterpart in a handshake (dexiosis), while holding a long sceptre in her left hand. The scene emblematises the formal alliance and concord (homonoia) between the two cities, a common motif on civic bronzes of the Antonine period in Asia Minor. The encircling legend names both civic communities. |
