| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, portrayed in three-quarter rear view, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the muscled cuirass visible below. The emperor's effigy is rendered in the vigorous provincial style characteristic of the Sardis mint, with bold relief modelling of the facial features. The encircling Greek legend runs around the periphery of the field. |
