Attuda was a minor Phrygian city whose civic coinage depended almost entirely on the munificence of local magistrates and benefactors rather than any systematic municipal treasury. The dedicatory inscription naming Oulius Karminios Klaudianos as son of the city — a honorific indicating prominent civic patronage — places this issue within a well-documented provincial practice whereby wealthy families funded bronze coinage as public euergetism. The family name Karminios appears in other Lydian and Phrygian epigraphic records, suggesting a regional dynasty of Roman-citizen notables operating across the conventus.
