| 正面铭文 | ΑΥΤ Κ Μ ΑΥΡ ϹΕ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ ϹΕΒ (Translation: Emperor Caesar Marcus Aurelius Severus Alexander Augustus) |
| 背面描述 | Two standing female divinities face one another in the field. At left, Kore (Persephone) stands facing, flanked on either side by a poppy stalk, emblematic of her association with the Underworld and the agricultural cycle. At right, Demeter stands facing with head turned to the left, holding a long torch in one hand and ears of grain in the other — attributes canonical to her role as goddess of the harvest. The pairing of Kore and Demeter is particularly appropriate for Sardis, a city with deep connections to the Lydian grain cult. The reverse legend, disposed in the field and exergue, names the presiding archon and records Sardis's coveted status as a twice-neocorate city. |
