| Beschrijving keerzijde | A tetrastyle temple rendered in frontal elevation, its four columns framing a central cult statue of Apollo standing nude to the right, holding an arrow in his extended right hand while his left elbow rests upon a decorative pillar or omphalos. The architectural rendering includes a pediment above the columns, typical of civic pride coinage issued by Apollonia ad Rhyndacum, whose patron deity Apollo lent the city its name. The city ethnic legend is distributed in the field around the temple. The style is consistent with the large-module civic bronzes of the Mysian conventus of Cyzicus under the Severan dynasty. |
