| Beschrijving keerzijde | Demeter standing in a biga drawn by two serpents, moving to the left, holding an upright torch in each hand. The goddess is depicted in flowing robes, the serpents rendered with sinuous bodies beneath the chariot. This type evokes the chthonic and agrarian attributes of Demeter and is characteristic of the rich mythological reverse repertoire employed by Lydian civic mints under Philip I. The reverse legend, partially uncertain, names the local magistrate Apollinarios and the civic ethnikon of Mastaura, distributed around the field. |
