| Obverse description | Youthful draped and cuirassed bust of Commodus, seen from the rear, laureate, facing right with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The portrait reflects the co-imperial period under Marcus Aurelius, rendered in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Mysian civic coinage. The obverse legend in Greek characters encircles the bust, identifying the young Caesar. |

Cyzicus held the title of neokoros — temple warden of the imperial cult — and its civic coinage advertised that status aggressively. The magistrate named in this legend, Kaikilios Alypeianos, is attested on a small cluster of issues, suggesting a relatively brief tenure as archon during the co-rule of Marcus Aurelius and Commodus. Provincial bronze of this module from Cyzicus is notoriously poorly struck due to the oversized flans relative to die coverage, a persistent technical problem at this mint throughout the Antonine period.
