Reverse description Asclepius, the god of medicine, is depicted seated to the left upon a high-backed throne or chair, his body rendered in three-quarter view. He extends his right hand forward, offering a patera from which a serpent rises to feed, while his left hand rests upon his distinctive knotted staff. The composition is typical of Asclepius iconography in Carian provincial coinage, reflecting the religious significance of the healing cult in the region. The ethnic legend ΗΡΑΚΛΕΩΤΩΝ is distributed around the field.
