| Beschrijving voorzijde | Bust of Marcus Aurelius facing left, seen from the rear, laureate, cuirassed, with a long beard rendered in short curls characteristic of his mature portraiture. The imperial effigy is depicted in a three-quarter rear view, an uncommon orientation in provincial coinage. The Greek legend ΑΥ ΚΑΙ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ runs around the periphery, identifying the emperor by his Antonine name. The flan is irregular and slightly clipped at the left edge, consistent with provincial Lydian bronze production of the Antonine period. |
