| Reverse description | Nude Apollo Delphinios seated in three-quarter view upon a rocky outcrop, his head turned to the right. His right hand is raised and rests upon the crown of his head, while his left arm leans upon an omphalos around which a serpent coils. A bow is held in the left hand. The reverse celebrates the principal Milesian cult of Apollo Delphinios, the god's epithet closely associated with the city's ancient sanctuary, and the composition is rendered in a fluid Hellenistic-influenced style typical of Ionian provincial bronzes of the Antonine era. The encircling legend names the magistrate responsible for the issue. |
