Hadrianotherae — "Hadrian's Hunt" — was a city in Mysia founded, or at least named, to commemorate a boar hunt Hadrian conducted in the region, almost certainly during his earliest eastern tour following his accession in 117 AD. The city's coinage is among the more unusual civic issues of the Conventus of Adramyteum precisely because the city's entire identity derived from a single imperial recreational event, making its bronze issues simultaneously municipal and honorific in character.
III#1631 is among the heavier specimens attributed to this mint, consistent with the irregular module control known across Hadrianotherae's output.
