| Obverse description | Confronted jugate busts of Emperor Hadrian and Caesar Aelius, rendered in the distinctive Roman provincial style. Hadrian's laureate, cuirassed bust with paludamentum is shown from the rear at left, his head turned right to face his co-regent; Aelius's bare-headed, cuirassed bust with paludamentum is depicted from the front at right, his gaze directed left toward Hadrian. The obverse legend encircles the busts, identifying both figures. The die-cutting reflects the accomplished workshop tradition of Lydian civic coinage under Hadrian. |
