Reverse description Zeus enthroned to the left, seminude with drapery across the lower body, extending his right hand to offer a small Nike (Victory) figurine and grasping a long sceptre upright in his left hand; the throne is depicted with a footstool beneath. The encircling Greek legend ΜΑΤΡΟϹ ΑΠΟΙΚΩΝ ΠΟΛΙΩΝ ΗΡΑΚΛΕΩΤΑΝ runs around the field, with the city ethnic ΗΡΑΚΛΕΩΤΑΝ partially rendered in the exergue area. The composition reflects the Olympian Zeus type standard in Pontic civic bronze coinage under Gordian III.
