| Reverse description | A prize table, its surface inscribed, is depicted at centre supporting a statuette of Kore (Persephone), flanked on each side by an agonistic crown resting on its respective support, referencing the sacred games celebrated at Sardis. Beneath the table, a jug is shown between two crossed or upright palm branches, symbols of athletic victory. The composition reflects the Oikoumenika games, the internationally recognised sacred contest held under the auspices of the thrice-neocorate city of Sardis. The reverse legend encircling the design names the presiding first archon Hermophilos and records the civic honours of Sardis. |
