Obverse description Draped bust of Demos personified, laureate, facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style with deeply cut curling hair and a broad, mature physiognomy. The portrait is set within a beaded border. The encircling legend ΔΗΜΟϹ ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ identifies the figure as the personification of the people of the neokorate city of Laodicea. The bust displays a paludamentum or civic drapery over the left shoulder, consistent with honorific civic portraiture of the Severan period.
