| Beschrijving keerzijde | Homonoia type depicting two civic cult images in juxtaposition: at left, Zeus Idaios stands facing left, holding an eagle in his right hand and a long sceptre in his left, representing the chief deity of Adramyteum's hinterland; at right, the cult statue of Artemis Ephesia stands facing, wearing a kalathos (cylindrical crown) and supported by lateral struts in the canonical Ephesian manner, her body rendered in the stylised xoanon form with multiple rows of oval pendants on her torso. This reverse type celebrates the Homonoia (civic concord) alliance between Adramyteum and Ephesus, with the latter city designated as thrice-neokoros (Γ ΝΕΩΚΟΡΩΝ). The composition is arranged symmetrically within the circular field with the multiline Greek legend distributed in the exergue and field. |
