| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, rendered in three-quarter frontal view, with the cuirass adorned by a gorgoneion (Medusa head) at the centre. The imperial legend encircles the effigy in Greek characters around the periphery of the flan. The portrait displays the characteristic strong features associated with Caracalla's later coinage, with the laureate wreath clearly defined above the brow. The overall style is consistent with the provincial bronze coinage struck at Laodicea ad Lycum under the Severan dynasty. |
