Obverse description Laureate and cuirassed bust of the emperor Caracalla facing right, rendered in three-quarter frontal view, with a gorgoneion (Medusa head apotropaic device) prominently displayed on the breastplate of the cuirass. The portrait exhibits the characteristic thick neck and stern physiognomy associated with Caracalla's official coinage. The encircling Greek legend identifies the emperor by his imperial titulature.
