The figure is rendered in the classic standing Zeus type associated with the civic coinage of Laodicea ad Lycum, reflecting the city's principal cult. The surrounding field carries the dedicatory inscription naming the benefactor Attalos, son of Publius, who dedicated the coin issue as a victory offering (ἐπινίκιον) to the Laodiceans. The legend is distributed around the type within a beaded border, and the overall composition is consistent with the monumental civic bronzes of Phrygian cities under Antoninus Pius. |
