| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian I facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view favored in Eastern provincial coinage of this period. The imperial effigy displays the radiate laurel wreath, military cloak, and segmented cuirass with visible paludamentum. A Greek legend encircles the bust within the field, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregularly shaped, consistent with provincial hammered production, and the surface exhibits a dark patina with areas of corrosion obscuring fine detail. |
