Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, depicted nude with an aegis draped over the left shoulder, rendered in the vigorous high-relief style characteristic of Alexandrian provincial coinage. The emperor's effigy displays finely detailed curling hair beneath the laurel wreath, with strong, classicising facial features. The Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, reading from upper left around the periphery. The aegis, a divine attribute, underscores Trajan's martial and quasi-divine status as celebrated in the Alexandrian mint's output.
