Reverse description The god Nilus reclines to the left upon a crocodile, his body rendered in a relaxed, semi-recumbent posture typical of Alexandrian river-god iconography. In his left arm he holds a tall cornucopia from which emerges a small Genius figure holding a wreath, symbolising the fertility and abundance brought by the Nile's annual inundation. In his right hand he holds a reed. The regnal year numerals ΙϚ appear in the upper field, while the dating formula L ΙΒ is placed in the reverse legend, denoting Year 12 of Trajan's reign in the Alexandrian calendar.
