| Beschrijving keerzijde | Dionysus, nude, seated and facing left in a biga drawn by two panthers, holding a cantharus in his extended right hand and a thyrsus in his left. Behind the panthers, a maenad is depicted dancing in a frontal pose with her head turned to the right, holding a vine branch. The composition exemplifies the rich Dionysiac iconographic tradition prevalent in the coinage of Lydian cities, rendered in the vigorous, if somewhat provincial, engraving style characteristic of the Maeonians. |
