| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two standing divinities flank a lighted altar at centre: on the left, a nude male figure tentatively identified as Apollo stands facing left, holding what appears to be a bucranium or similar attribute; on the right, a male figure tentatively identified as Heracles stands facing right, holding a lion skin in one hand and extending a patera over the flaming altar. The composition reflects the syncretic religious imagery common to the Pergamene civic coinage of the Severan period. The reverse legend, divided around the field, records the name of the local strategos and the city's prestigious triple-neocorate status. |
