| Description du revers | Two deities stand facing one another in the field: at left, a male divinity, identified tentatively as Zeus, stands facing with head turned right, holding a long sceptre in one hand and a small cult-statue in the other; at right, a veiled female divinity, tentatively identified as Hera, stands to the left wearing a chiton, holding a patera in one hand and a long sceptre in the other. The composition reflects the civic religious iconography characteristic of Carian provincial coinage under the Severan dynasty. The encircling reverse legend names the local grammateus responsible for the coinage issue. |
