| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, seen from the rear, rendered in the provincial Asiatic style typical of Carian civic bronzes. The emperor's portrait displays the characteristic features of his reign, with the laureate wreath prominently depicted. The encircling obverse legend names the emperor in the nominative case. The bust presentation — showing the rear of the cuirass — is a distinguishing feature of certain eastern provincial issues of this period. |

| Additional information |
Neapolis ad Harpasum was a minor Carian city of no great political weight, but under Severus Alexander its civic coinage became notably ambitious in scale — this 35mm bronze sits at the upper limit of what most Asian mints produced for local issues. The magistrate name preserved in the legend, Aurelius Dionysios son of Zenon, follows the naming pattern that proliferated after the Constitutio Antoniniana of 212 AD granted Roman citizenship broadly across the provinces, with newly minted Aurelii appearing across Carian civic issues within a generation.
